il present continuous inglese,detto anche present progressive,
si forma con il presente del verbo essere ( to be ) seguito
dalla ing form del verbo principale. la ing form del verbo
è chiamata participio presente.

l'uso più frequente del presente progressivo inglese è per parlare di qualcosa che stà succedendo al tempo in cui si parla ,ovvero in questo momento,proprio adesso (now,at the moment)

si può usare il present continuous inglese anche per parlare di cose che stanno succedendo nel presente, ma non necessariamente nel momento in cui si parla

un'altro uso del present continuous inglese è per parlare di azioni ripetute che stanno infastidendo chi parla ,spesso abbinato a parole quali sempre,continuamente,costantemente etc

il presente progressivo inglese si può usare anche per costruire il futuro,quando ci si riferisce ad azioni programmate in un futuro prossimo

esiste una categoria di verbi che di norma non accettano il presente progressivo . quelli maggiormente diffusi sono : (like love hate want need prefer belong remember believe understang mean seem consist fit see hear contain suppose realize know smell tast think .

i verbi con cui nonsi può usare il present continuous sono anche detti stative verbs ( o anche non progressive verbs). tali verbi si riconoscono perchè mostrano uno stato e non una azione .esistono,tuttavia,dei verbi con significato duplice, ed a seconda del significato prendono o meno il participio presente. vediamo il verbo think: think=ritenere,pensare ingenerale I think you are very beautiful penso che tu sia molto bella =stative verb think=prendere in considerazione,valutare I'm thinking to move inanother city stò valutando di trasferirmi inun'altra città=dynamic verb
