il present continuous  si usa quando siamo nel mezzo di fare qualcosa ,
anche in senso figurato  ,e per descrivere cambiamenti attorno a questo periodo: 
l'azione non e' completa . 
principalmente viene usato per azioni e cose che accadono,iniziate ma non finite.  

i'm building this web page             in questo periodo (quest'anno,questa settimana,oggi)
i'm building a web site at the moment   in questo preciso momento -azione non completa      
i'm beginning my partnership with google in this period   ancora in questo periodo ,cambiamento in atto
my english is getting better  cambiamenti attorno a questo periodo azione non completa,ancora non ho finito di migliorare
i often listen to the music    e' sempre vero quindi non uso il present continuous
i'm thinking about resigning      sto valutando di dimettermi
 
 ci sono dei verbi che di solito non si usano al present continuous:
(like   love     hate     want need    prefer  seem  consist fit     see    hear
contain belong  remember believe understang  mean  suppose  realize know    smell taste
 
il present simple si usa per parlare delle cose in generale ,

verita' assolute e cose che accadono di continuo,o ancora per dire con quale

frequenza accadono le cose:
 
i like my job              in generale
shakespeare is a great writer  in generale / verita' assoluta
i work every day              in generale e quanto spesso una cosa accade
how often does she go to the doctor     quanto spesso vado dal dottore 
i apologise for what i have done  col verbo apologise di solito non usiamo il continuous
i promise i will do it    col verbo promise
i'm  often listening to the music     solo in questo periodo ,o almeno piu' del solito    
i think there are a lot of beautiful things in the world        lo credo, e' una mia opinione
