In inglese esistono
due tipi di domande:
1) le 'yes no questions'
2)le 'wh questions'.

Le yes-no questions iniziano sempre con un verbo ausiliare,si usano per chiedere conferma e come risposta hanno una short answer.

Per quanto riguarda le wh questions dette anche question words iniziano con uno dei pronomi interrogativi

La differenza tra una dichiarazione e una domanda e' che il soggetto e il verbo si scambiano la loro posizione:
-you are a basketball player.
-are you a basketball player?

Quando si risponde alle domande in inglese e' sempre buona abitudine non limitarsi a rispondere con un si o con un no, per rispondere si devono usare le short answers, altrimenti si puo' sembrare sgarbati.

Se la risposta è positiva si risponde con yes, I am
 Se la risposta e' negativa si risponde con no, I am not.

si formano mettendo all'inizio della frase l'ausiliare , quindi il soggetto, il verbo e il resto della frase.

possiamo usare indifferentemente entrambe le costruzioni sopra

si formano utilizzando ad inizio frase la question word,quindi l'ausiliare ,il soggetto, il verbo della domanda.

why do you have a gun?
le due espressioni sopra sono intercambiabili

Senza Question words Si formano con
ausiliare + soggetto + verbo + resto della domanda

la risposta e' composta da
yes-no + soggetto + ausiliare
Do you love him? yes I do ---no I don't

Se la risposta e' negativa si aggiunge n't all'ausiliare
