 la costruzione SOGGETTO + use + infinito col to  
si usa per azioni che accadevano regolarmente nel passato ma 

  adesso non accadono piu' , o per cose che erano vere ,ma adesso non sono piu' vere . 

I remember when we used to sit ... ricordo quando eravamo soliti sedere ...
 I used to play golf  when I was young  : 
     giocavo a golf regolarmente quando ero giovane,ora non piu'
I didn't use to play golf when I was young         per la negativa e l'interrogativa
did you use to play golf when you was young?       si seguono le normali regole 
  
le costruzioni soggetto + be / get + la preposizione to + ing form
               soggetto + be / get + la preposizione to + something
si usano per dire che una cosa che si fa e' per noi normale (be), ci siamo abituati ,
o comunque non e' una situazione nuova o atipica  . se invece ci stiamo abituando,
o dovremo abituarci nel presente o nel futuro,oppure nel passato eravamo in una 
situazione in cui ci stavamo adattando,in questi casi si usa get.ovviamente ,
bisogna applicare la regola secondo cui  le preposizioni in inglese sono seguite dalla ing form . 
 

• I am used to the italian weather : sono abituato al clima italiano
• I am used to living alone : sono abituato a vivere da solo, non e' per me strano o una novita'
• She isn't used to this food .
• she isn't used to eating thhis food
• she get used to italian food : si deve abituare al cibo italiano
• she is getting used to cooking italian food : si stà abituando al clima italiano
• she will get used to eating spanish food : si abituerà a mangiare cibo spagnolo
• she got used to living alone: dovette abituarsi a vivere da sola
