may o might sono usati per dire che qualcosa è una possibilità.
di norma possiamo usare l'uno o l'altro indifferentemente :

Women might be able to fake orgasms.
 But men can fake a whole relationship.
le donne possono essere capaci di simulare un orgasmo.
ma l'uomo può simulare una intera relazione. Sharon Stone

-it may be good   oppure it might be good  .
  entrambe le espressioni significano forse è vero.

-he might feel worst oppure he may feel worst .
 entrambe le espressioni significano che forse  lui si sente peggio.

-it may not be true oppure it might not be true .
 per fare la forma negativa si mette sempre il noto dopo may o might.


essendo verbi modali ,per fare il passato si usano  :
may/might + have + participio passato del verbo.

-she may have been tired (forse era stanca) 

-she might not have been tired (forse non era stanca)

-I might have lost my keys in the swimming pool
 (non trovo le chiave è potrei averle lasciate in piscina)

-I could have lost my keys in the swimming pool
         (in questo caso could,may e might hanno lo stesso significato ,
  ma quando could è usato al negativo assume un connotato totalmente diverso)

-I couldn't have lost my keys in the swimming pool (significa che è impossibile che ho perso le chiavi in piscina) -I might not have lost my keys in the swimming pool (significa che forse non ho perso le chiavi in piscina)

may e might possono essere usati per parlare di azioni e avvenimenti nel futuro :

-next summer I may go to sardinia (potrebbe essere che andrò insardegna) -stella might not be able to help you (forse stella non sara capace di aiutarti)

anche in questi casi i due modali sono intercambiabili tra loro,
ma se la situazione fosse irreale potremmo usare solo might :

-if I was fine ,I might go to the party (se stessi meglio potrei andare alla festa,ma siccome non potrei stare meglio di come stò...è irreale,quindi non posso usare may ma solo might)

esiste anche una forma continua :

-tomorrow at 7.30 I might be watching the basketball on television (domani forse starò guardando lapartita di pallacanestro in tv) -I might be going to sardinia in may (forse andro in sardegna a maggio)

may / might as well do something
