Una frase al condizionale necessita
di due proposizioni (clauses) :
1)if clause
2)main clause (o result clause)
nella if clause vi e' specificata la condizione ,nella main clause il risultato, a seconda se la if clause sia vera o no.
E' indifferente usare prima la if clause o la main clause,tuttavia se usiamo prima la if clause , dobbiano separare con una virgola la main clause.
If I had studied more, I would have passed the exam.
I would have passed the exam If I had studied more.
quando si usa il third conditional
Questa struttura si usa per parlare di cose che non sono successe nel passato,e delle loro ipotetiche conseguenze o effetti. Spesso la usiamo per criticare o rimpiangere qualcosa che e' successo o non successo.
-if I'd tried studied at school,
I wouldn't have failed my exams
(se avessi studiato di piu' a scuola,
non avrei fallito i miei esami)
-if I hadn't met her that night,
I wouldn't have fallen in love
(se non la avessi incontrata quella

possiamo usare might

=anche could al posto di should)
se vogliamo parlare di un evento irreale, che ha il suo risultato nel presente possiamo usare would al presente anzichè al passato:
-if you had taken my advice,
you wouldn't have so many problems now.

Past Unreal Conditional + Continuous
Possiamo usare questa forma per situazioni immaginarie che stanno succedendo in un tempo molto preciso nel passato o durante un periodo di tempo nel passato:sia nella if clause:

Anche supposing può essere usato per formare il third conditional, quando chi parla Vuole invitare chi ascolta ad immaginare (o supporre) una situazione:

Quando usiamo supposing nella if clause, omettiamo IF.
